The aroma of freshly baked pizza once again fills the air at 496 Cadiz Road as Wintersville welcomes the revival of its beloved culinary institution, DeFelice Bros. Pizza, under the stewardship of new owner Keene Barnett.
Amidst a backdrop of enthusiasm and anticipation, members of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and village officials gathered on April 13 to mark the grand reopening of the cherished establishment. Festivities included a vibrant ribbon-cutting ceremony, delectable samples, appearances by the iconic DeFelice Bros. mascots, and engaging activities for families, such as face painting and the chance to win pizza for a year.
Dominic DeFelice, president of the esteemed pizza chain, graced the occasion, extending a warm welcome to Barnett, whose previous tenure at the Shadyside location showcased his dedication and passion for the brand. Barnett, accompanied by his fiancée Jessica Riggenbach, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to embark on this exciting venture.
“While I may not bear the DeFelice name, Dom has embraced me as family and provided unwavering support throughout this journey,” Barnett remarked. “I am thrilled to continue the legacy of this esteemed location, which holds a special place in the hearts of Wintersville residents.”
Barnett’s decision to acquire the Wintersville establishment was spurred by a desire to preserve its rich heritage following the retirement of former owners Dave and Denise Liberati. With Riggenbach’s steadfast assistance and the retention of dedicated staff members, Barnett aims to uphold the high standards of quality and service synonymous with DeFelice Bros. Pizza.
Operating from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, the reinvigorated locale boasts an extensive menu featuring over a dozen pizza varieties, including the iconic Detroit-style deep-dish, complemented by an array of tantalizing toppings. Emphasizing the use of fresh ingredients, premium cheeses, and homemade sauces, DeFelice Bros. Pizza promises a culinary experience like no other.
In addition to its signature pizzas, the establishment offers a diverse selection of pasta dishes, hearty salads, mouthwatering sandwiches, calzones, and delectable chicken wings infused with a medley of flavors. Barnett recommends the parmesan-crusted rosemary wings as a must-try delicacy, sure to delight discerning palates.
Eager to engage with the local community, Barnett looks forward to catering events and forging partnerships with schools within the Indian Creek Local School District. As a token of appreciation to young patrons, complimentary cookies await those who complete a coloring sheet during their visit.
