Pizza Man, the beloved eatery synonymous with delicious pies and cozy ambiance, may be preparing to make a comeback to its former haunt on Downer Avenue in Milwaukee’s east side. A recent public document suggests that plans are in motion for Pizza Man to reclaim its former stomping grounds at 2595 N. Downer Ave., where it once delighted patrons before relocating to 2060 N. Humboldt Ave.
The filing of a permit to install two exterior Pizza Man signs at the Downer Avenue location has sparked speculation about the restaurant’s potential return. This development comes hot on the heels of the unexpected closure of Pizza Man’s Humboldt Avenue establishment, which shuttered its doors after less than a year in operation.
The two-story space on Downer Avenue has sat vacant since Pizza Man bid farewell in the spring of 2023. Now, with signs of activity brewing, enthusiasts of the iconic pizzeria are abuzz with anticipation.
Efforts to reach representatives from Pizza Man’s operator and the building’s owner, Bridge33 Capital, for further details were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
It’s worth noting that a lawsuit involving Bridge33 Capital and Pizza Man operator Za Man LLC was resolved in January, as per records from Milwaukee County Circuit Court online.
As the scent of freshly baked dough and bubbling cheese wafts through the air, pizza lovers eagerly await confirmation of Pizza Man’s return to its cherished Downer Avenue locale.
