GS25 has announced plans to broaden the availability of its instantly baked “Go Pizza” by expanding sales to 1,000 stores by the end of 2024. This decision comes in response to the positive reception received by the on-the-spot baked pizza concept.
“Go Pizza” is a single-person pizza brand crafted to offer individuals the opportunity to indulge in pizza without the commitment of consuming an entire pie.
The Korean convenience store chain conducted a pilot launch of the product at select stores in November 2023 to gauge consumer response and assess the business model. Subsequently, mini ovens and two variants of pizza were introduced to directly managed stores starting from May 2024.
In the first ten days of May 2024, an average of 8.4 “Go Pizzas” were sold per day across ten directly managed stores, with monthly sales reaching approximately 2 million won ($1,500).
The appeal of the product lies in its ability to be swiftly prepared on-the-spot within five minutes of placing an order. The primary consumer demographic comprises individuals in their 20s (38 percent), followed by those in their 30s (44 percent) and 40s (11 percent), with the 20 to 30-year-old demographic constituting over 80 percent of the customer base.
Initially aiming to expand to 200 stores by the first half of 2024, GS25 has since revised its target to encompass 300 stores.
In addition to the existing Meat & Cheese Pizza and Triple Cheese Pizza options, GS25 will introduce a new Potato & Bacon Pizza on May 15th, 2024. Moreover, customers paying with Shinhan Card will enjoy a 54 percent discount on “Go Pizza” until the end of the month.
