One Great Thing I Ate: The Capricciosa Pizza from Via Tevere Main Street

by Emma

The closure of Pizzeria Grano’s Main Street location left a void in Mount Pleasant’s culinary scene, but the arrival of Via Tevere has swiftly become a beacon of excitement for pizza enthusiasts.

As a non-plant-based individual, I was initially skeptical about transitioning from Pizzeria Grano’s renowned plant-based pies to Via Tevere’s offerings. However, my apprehensions were quickly dispelled upon tasting the Capricciosa pizza at their new Main Street location.

Via Tevere, known for its Victoria Drive establishment, has taken the reins from Grano, infusing the space with its own brand of pizza mastery. During a fortunate visit on the new location’s friends and family day, I had the pleasure of sampling a selection of dishes that will grace the menu.

While everything was undeniably delicious, it was the Capricciosa pizza that stole the show. Made with Via Tevere’s signature chewy dough and adorned with tomato sauce, prosciutto cotto, salami, artichokes, mushrooms, black olives, and typically fior di latte cheese, this pizza is a symphony of flavors.

Opting for Grano’s exceptional vegan cheese to accommodate my partner’s dietary preferences proved to be a stroke of genius. The resulting blend of saltiness from the prosciutto and olives, balanced by the dough’s comforting texture, the earthiness of the mushrooms, and the creaminess of the vegan cheese, was a revelation.

Remarkably, the pizza was so impeccably crafted that we didn’t feel the need to request chili oil or flakes—testament to its flawless execution.

What’s even more enticing is Via Tevere’s commitment to accommodating dietary restrictions. All pizzas at the Main Street location can be made dairy-free, and Grano’s beloved vegan desserts, including tiramisu and cannoli, are also on offer.

With Via Tevere seamlessly integrating Grano’s menu into its operations for online ordering, it’s evident that the transition has been meticulously planned to cater to all patrons.

As Via Tevere Mount Pleasant prepares to open its doors on May 15 at 3240 Main Street, I eagerly anticipate returning to indulge in their delectable offerings. You’ll easily spot me—the one with an unmistakable grin of satisfaction in the corner.
