Crypto enthusiasts worldwide came together as Bitget commemorated Bitcoin Pizza Day in collaboration with PizzaDAO, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Bitget organized a series of global events spanning from Asia to South America to honor the historic first Bitcoin transaction.
On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz made history by purchasing two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins—an amount now valued at $670 million. Bitget’s celebrations took place from May 19 to 22, featuring 20 offline events across five continents, including meetups in Brisbane, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Taipei.
In Taipei, Bitget welcomed Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, to join the festivities. The event in Australia was co-hosted by the Australian DeFi Association and All Things Blockchain community, focusing on networking and discussions about blockchain trends. Sao Paulo’s event featured a collaboration with Domino’s Pizza, while Buenos Aires hosted a dedicated trading event.
As part of the celebration, Bitget and PizzaDAO sponsored events in key cities such as Tokyo, Madrid, Lisbon, and Zurich. This marked the 4th annual Global Pizza Party organized by PizzaDAO, attracting over 10,000 attendees from 150 cities worldwide. Additionally, Bitget’s celebrations included a 3D video to spread the message and a special offer from Bitget India, providing 100% USDT APR for new users on Bitget Earn until June 16.
