An iconic Columbus establishment, Tommy’s Pizza, is bidding farewell to one of its longstanding locations after 45 years of operation.
The restaurant announced that it will permanently close its doors at the Lane Avenue location, situated just north of Ohio State University’s campus, on June 14, 2024.
In a heartfelt message, Tommy’s Pizza expressed gratitude to the Central Ohio community: “It has been a pleasure serving multiple generations of families and students alike. Thank you, Central Ohio, for your support over the years.”
Founded by Thomas Iacono, who originally hailed from New York City, Tommy’s Pizza opened its first Columbus restaurant on Fifth Ave near Cassidy Avenue in 1952. Over the years, the establishment expanded, with the Lane Avenue location joining the family in the late 1970s.
While the Lane Avenue location prepares to close its doors, Tommy’s Pizza reassured patrons that its Upper Arlington and Dublin locations will continue to serve pizza enthusiasts.
This closure marks the end of an era for a beloved pizza spot that has been a cornerstone of the Columbus community for nearly half a century.
