Tommy’s Pizza, a cherished institution on Ohio State University’s campus, is bidding farewell after serving the community for 45 years. The iconic pizzeria, located at 174 West Lane Ave., will permanently close its doors on June 14, 2024.
Founded by Thomas Iacono in 1952 as “Tommy’s Restaurant” on Fifth Avenue near Cassidy Avenue, the establishment transitioned to focus primarily on pizza as its popularity soared. The Ohio State campus location, established in the late 1970s, became a staple for generations of students and families alike.
In a heartfelt message on their website, Tommy’s Pizza expressed gratitude to central Ohio for decades of support, stating, “It has been a pleasure serving multiple generations of families and students alike.” Despite the closure of their campus venue, Tommy’s other locations in Upper Arlington and Dublin will continue to operate.
As the second oldest pizza restaurant in Columbus, Tommy’s Pizza leaves behind a legacy of delicious food and cherished memories.
