Penelope Pizza, a beloved local pizzeria, is set to move to a new location this summer.
Originally starting as Over The Counter Pizza, a mobile pizzeria in the back of a vintage truck, Penelope Pizza found a home inside Cartel Roasting Co. at 210 E. Broadway Blvd. Now, the wood-fired pizza joint is relocating to 800 N. Kolb Rd. on the east side.
The new location carries a legacy of pizza establishments. It previously housed Dry River Company, followed by FireTruck Brewing’s pizza concept, FireTruck Pizza Company. The closure of FireTruck Pizza Company created an opportunity for Jared Schwartz and the Penelope Pizza team to establish their presence in the area.
With this move, the downtown location inside Cartel will be closing by the end of July. Schwartz expressed enthusiasm about the transition, saying, “We are going to be closing the Cartel location at the end of July, but will have so many more things to offer at the new place.”
Over the past year, Penelope Pizza introduced pasta nights on the last Tuesday of each month. This popular event suggests that the new location might feature more pasta dishes, a possibility Schwartz has hinted at previously.
Stay tuned for the official closure date of the downtown location and the grand opening announcement for the new restaurant on the east side.
