SCHOFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) – Summer fun calls for new community events, especially ones you don’t see too often. Sam’s Pizza in Schofield and the Mountain Bay Police Department are teaming up for something exciting this evening.
Sam’s is known for its pizza, but on Thursday evening, they were known for Kids Day Out. From 3-6 p.m., the community met and played games with local law enforcement and the money spent supports officers, firefighters, and EMTs through Blue Hearts. This was the first Kids Day Out collaboration between Sam’s Pizza and the Mountain Bay Metropolitan Police Department.
Not only did the kids get to meet some of the officers, but they also enjoyed fun activities like the bounce house, a coloring contest, the D.A.R.E. drunk buster go-karts, which bring awareness to impaired driving, and more.
As for food, there was a popcorn cart and Sam’s Pizza discounted their slices to $2. There was also a special benefit for buying dinner there.
“The proceeds from tonight’s event from both Sam’s location in Schofield and Wausau, a portion of those will benefit the blue hearts organization, that again, that benefit first responders and law enforcement families in this area,” says Mountain Bay Metro school resource officer Jeff Zwicky.
Officer Jeff Zwicky said you may have also seen some furry friends visiting. Sully, Mountain Bay Metro’s therapy dog, and Katie the K-9 stopped by.
Sam’s Pizza and MBMPD hope to have more events like this one in the future.
