DETROIT – The team behind Eastern Market Brewing Company is set to unveil a new pizza and beer venue this Saturday, July 13, in Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood. The new spot, Elephant & Co., marks its second location and is positioned to be the flagship venue, located in the former Founders space on Charlotte Street.
This establishment is designed to accommodate 200 patrons indoors and an additional 100 on a heated patio that will remain open most of the year. A highlight of the interior is an artistic wall featuring 50 self-serve beer taps, offering a variety of Eastern Market Brewing beers, cider, and wine.
The venue will also house a Dooped Donuts café, equipped with a “robotic barista,” and a small market selling locally-sourced items. However, the standout feature is the Detroit-style pizza, particularly noted for its distinctive dough.
During the pandemic, the team at Eastern Market Brewing experimented with pizza dough recipes, leveraging their expertise in fermentation and yeast. This experimentation led to the creation of complex doughs that became highly popular while collaborating with the Ferndale Project.
“We’re a brewery turned pizza company, and truly understand the importance of fermentation,” said Pauline Knighton-Prueter, president of Elephant & Co. “It’s what’s made us one of Michigan’s fastest-growing breweries and now, Detroit’s best pizza.”
The opening menu at Elephant & Co. will showcase pizzas with unique inspirations such as coney dogs, crab rangoons, and pickles, alongside more traditional options.
Elephant & Co. will officially open its doors from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 456 Charlotte Street. Guests can enjoy a variety of offerings, including pizza, beer, donuts, and coffee.
The first Elephant & Co. location debuted earlier this year in Downtown Royal Oak.
