\HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg Fire Department’s 21st annual ‘Pizza Night’ proved to be a resounding success. The event, held on Wednesday evening, saw firefighters delivering over 300 pizzas from CiCi’s Pizza to homes across the city and inspecting nearly 900 smoke alarms to ensure they were functioning properly.
Lieutenant Erin Stehle highlighted the importance of the event in promoting fire safety. “Any time you can get into that many homes to check their smoke alarms, it is a successful evening,” Stehle said. “The good news is that more and more residents have working smoke alarms, which means they are making sure they work and are changing their batteries.”
The initiative not only provided delicious pizza but also underscored the critical message of maintaining operational smoke alarms, a key component in household safety.
