Mistakes happen in every restaurant. Whether it’s a wrong order or subpar service, everyone can have an off day. However, not all errors make headlines or turn into promotions.

Recently, a TikTok user named @FrumpTruck ordered the popular Mac & Cheese from California Pizza Kitchen (CPK). After a tough week involving an injury and a breakup, she was disappointed to receive a box with just melted cheese and a piece of bread instead of the full Mac & Cheese. Her video, showing the mix-up, quickly went viral, gaining over 4.2 million views.

CPK responded with a lighthearted touch, posting a video featuring their executive chef demonstrating the correct way to prepare their Mac & Cheese, including the crucial macaroni. This video also gained traction, amassing 10.4 million views.

In addition to the viral video, CPK contacted the customer directly. They sent her a new delivery along with a certificate for free Mac & Cheese and pizza for a year, delivered in a giant macaroni box.

The biggest winners are CPK customers across the U.S. The chain is offering 50% off Mac & Cheese for takeout or delivery orders through the end of July. To take advantage of the deal, customers can use the promo code ‘cheeseANDmac’ at checkout.
