Dave Portnoy, the CEO of Barstool Sports, has kicked off another round of his popular “One Bite” pizza reviews in New Jersey, starting in Old Bridge. During his visit, Portnoy stopped by Via Sposito, a local pizza spot, to sample their offerings.

Before diving into his review, Portnoy mentioned that he was on a tight schedule, needing to fit in his pizza tasting before an upcoming colonoscopy. But he quickly got down to business, focusing on the pizza itself.

Portnoy rated Via Sposito’s pizza a 7.4 out of 10, noting that while he enjoyed the flavor, the pizza could use a bit more crunch. He also pointed out that serving the pizza in a cardboard box might have contributed to the lack of crispiness.

Via Sposito is owned by brothers Anthony and Vincent Esposito Jr., who are fourth-generation Italians with family roots in Brooklyn, NY. The pizzeria has been serving customers at its Old Bridge location on Highway 516 for seven years. Recently, they expanded, opening a new location in Colts Neck two months ago, adding to their existing spot in Red Bank.

“I like it, good stuff,” Portnoy said in his review, adding, “I just wish it was a little more crisp.”
