Copperas Cove has welcomed a new addition to its dining scene with the arrival of Village Pizza. Located at 3010 E. Business Highway 190, Suite 106, the pizzeria offers a variety of pizzas and other dishes to local residents. This is the second location for Village Pizza, with the original restaurant situated in Killeen on Clear Creek Road.
The pizzeria is owned by Nicholas Januszka and his father. Nicholas explained, “We knew we wanted to open another restaurant,” adding that they were simply waiting for the right opportunity. That opportunity presented itself when Yaghi’s New York Pizzeria in Copperas Cove closed down. The Januszka family acquired the building and some of the existing restaurant’s equipment, leading to the swift opening of Village Pizza. “It was all very fast,” Nicholas said.
Though the official grand opening with the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce took place last Friday, Januszka noted that the pizzeria has been operating for five to six months prior. He described the grand opening as “really fun,” highlighting it as a great chance to meet and interact with the local community.
Since opening, business has generally been strong, though Nicholas acknowledged a slight slowdown during the summer. However, with the start of the new school year, things are picking up again. At 20 years old, Nicholas primarily manages the Copperas Cove location, while his father oversees the Killeen restaurant. Reflecting on his experience, Nicholas said, “I’ve been working in kitchens for about 10 years; I definitely feel at home being in a kitchen.”
He shared that when he first began making pizza, he was uncertain about it, but now he can’t imagine doing anything else. “I honestly couldn’t see myself doing anything else in life,” he said, adding that the craft has also provided a unique opportunity to bond with his father.
Village Pizza specializes in a variety of pizzas, with Nicholas’s personal favorite being the chicken bacon ranch pizza, which he enjoys topped with lemon pepper seasoning. In addition to pizza, the menu also includes calzones, stromboli, pasta, salads, wings, and subs.
The restaurant offers a small dine-in space as well as pickup and delivery options. Village Pizza is open daily, with hours from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
