The Kansas City Chiefs have a unique tradition during their training camp: a pizza party at the local St. Joseph pizzeria, Il Lazzarone. This annual event allows the team to bond and unwind after intense practice sessions at Missouri Western State University.
Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs’ star quarterback, recently spoke about this tradition during a press conference. “Don’t remember that for next year and try to storm up my party,” Mahomes joked, referencing this year’s pizza outing. He shared a humorous moment from the gathering: “Ian Book had like nine pieces of pizza yesterday. I had to calm him down. The first time we went, he only got one piece because the o-line ate all his pizza.”
The pizza party serves as a fun break for the team, helping them recharge and strengthen their camaraderie. As they prepare for the upcoming season, the Chiefs will next take the field at Arrowhead Stadium this Saturday against the Detroit Lions.
