As summer winds down, the North Fork Foodie Tour remains a highlight of the season, showcasing the best of the area’s farms, vineyards, and food producers. Since its inception in 2007, the tour has become an iconic event, offering a deep dive into what makes the North Fork so appealing: its dedication to sustainable agriculture and high-quality food and beverage production.
The 18th Annual North Fork Foodie Tour, organized by the North Fork Reform Synagogue, is set for Sunday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will have the chance to explore over a dozen locations, each offering behind-the-scenes tours where visitors can meet the passionate individuals behind the area’s food and wine industry.
Ticket holders will gain insight into farming practices, sustainable agriculture, and the production methods used to create the North Fork’s renowned food, wine, beer, spirits, and artisanal goods.
This year’s tour will feature 19 different locations and include four presentations by food experts at the Peconic Land Trust’s Agricultural Center at Charnews Farm in Southold. Highlights include a cooking demonstration by Chef Jeremiah Johnson, showcasing Caribbean flavors with locally sourced vegetables, and Page Pfeiffer of The French Picnic teaching attendees how to craft a perfect cheese board. Additionally, representatives from Slow Food East End and the East End Food Institute will discuss their efforts in promoting and supporting sustainable, fair food practices.
Some of the participants on this year’s tour include Oregon Road Organics in Cutchogue, Breeze Hill Farm in Peconic, Sweet Woodland Farm in Southold, and Old Field Vineyards in Southold.
