Donatos Pizza is closing its East 38th Street location in Erie. The restaurant will shut its doors on September 9, as the lease on the property expires on January 1.
The company cited low sales in the dining area and the proximity of other locations as reasons for the closure. The East 38th Street store, which has the largest dining area among the three local Donatos Pizza locations, has struggled with dine-in sales.
The regional pizza chain operates additional locations on West 8th Street, Greengarden Boulevard, and in Harborcreek. The owners stated that having three nearby locations was not viable given the local market size.
Customers with store credit at the East 38th Street location can transfer their credits to either of the other two stores. Delivery services will be reassigned between the remaining locations.
