A video showing a Roman’s Pizza employee wiping down used pizza boxes has sparked outrage on social media, leading to concerns about the company’s hygiene practices. The incident allegedly occurred at the Roman’s Pizza branch in Daveyton, located at Mayfield Square Shopping Centre.
Many social media users expressed shock, with some questioning whether this behavior had been going on for some time. One user commented: “This person intentionally wants to damage this business with this single act, or maybe it’s been happening for a long time. We need more than a statement to condemn it. A thorough audit is required.”
Another use added: “They’re trying to cheat the owner by manipulating the count of boxes sold for cash.”
Roman’s Pizza CEO, John Nicolakakis, responded to the controversy by announcing that an internal investigation has been launched. He expressed deep concern over the incident, stating: “We are taking this matter extremely seriously and have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. We will leave no box unturned to ensure that our high standards are upheld.”
Nicolakakis emphasized the company’s commitment to customer safety and loyalty, saying: “Our customers’ trust and loyalty are paramount to us, and we are deeply disturbed by this incident. We want to assure our customers that we are investigating this matter thoroughly and will take swift action to address any non-compliance with our standards.”
He also reassured the public that the actions depicted in the video are not representative of Roman’s Pizza’s business practices. “At Roman’s Pizza, we take pride in our customer service and adhere to strict operational protocols to ensure the quality and safety of our products. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward any behavior that compromises our brand, products, procedures, and hygiene standards. The actions of the employee in the video do not reflect the standard practices of our organization,” Nicolakakis added.
The company has yet to release further details on the outcome of the investigation.
