In celebration of National Pepperoni Pizza Day on September 20, 2024, Papa Johns is launching a unique product—a Pepperoni Pizza Diffuser. This move comes as new research reveals that one in four students (24%) find the smell of fresh pizza helps reduce stress.
With a record number of 18-year-olds expected to enter university this year, Freshers Week is shaping up to be especially busy. However, the excitement of starting university often comes with high stress levels. A recent survey showed that 87% of students have experienced stress during their studies, with a staggering 98% reporting stress at some point in their university life.
To help students cope with the pressures of university life, Papa Johns is introducing its first-ever home diffuser inspired by its popular Pepperoni Pizza. This follows findings that 88% of students see scent diffusers as a helpful way to reduce stress and improve their living space. According to the research, 24% of students specifically noted that the smell of fresh pizza had a calming effect.
The study also highlighted the broader impact of scents on student well-being. Over half of students (54%) said scents helped them relax and unwind, while 47% reported that certain smells made them feel happy and comforted. Additionally, 21% said a scent could remind them of their childhood home, and 17% mentioned that specific aromas evoked memories of good times spent with friends.
Papa Johns’ new Pepperoni Pizza Diffuser is designed to fill the air with a sweet-smoky scent with hints of spice. The product comes with six rattan reeds, which release the fragrance and can last up to three months. For maximum stress relief, users are encouraged to use all six reeds simultaneously.
Rebecca Carroll, spokesperson for Papa Johns UK, commented on the new initiative:
“Starting university is an exciting milestone, but it can also be overwhelming. We’ve always provided great deals for students to enjoy our pizza, but this year we wanted to do more. By launching the Pepperoni Pizza Diffuser, we hope to help students relax and feel more at home during this busy time of year.”
