GS25, a leading convenience store chain in South Korea, is enhancing its quick commerce offerings. The company will soon add chicken, pizza, and tteokbokki to its delivery menu.
This expansion aims to boost GS25’s competitiveness in the quick commerce sector, which delivers products within one to two hours of ordering. Starting Thursday, GS25 will introduce three new items: Gangryeokgye Chicken, Tteokbokki Party Pack, and Go Pizza Cheddar Pepperoni.
Delivery items like chicken and pizza have become popular choices among customers using delivery apps. By adding these products, GS25 hopes to provide more meal options beyond daily necessities and ready-to-eat meals.
Industry analysts predict that Korea’s quick commerce market will grow to 5 trillion won (approximately $3.71 billion) by 2025, a significant increase from 350 billion won in 2020.
From January to September this year, GS25’s quick commerce sales through its mobile app, “Our Neighborhood GS,” showed impressive growth. Delivery sales increased by 75.7 percent, while pickup orders surged by 282.6 percent compared to the same period last year. This trend reflects the rising popularity of pre-ordering items for delivery or quick pickup from convenience stores.
GS Retail credits this success to services such as exclusive quick commerce promotions, complimentary item storage, and personalized product recommendations based on customer data.
Among the new offerings, Gangryeokgye Chicken, from GS25’s in-house brand Chicken25, features a whole fried chicken priced at 8,900 won. Customers can enjoy a special October discount of 2,000 won, bringing the price down to 6,900 won.
The Tteokbokki Party Pack contains rice cakes, chewy noodles, fish cakes, and boiled eggs, all packed in a delivery container. Customers simply add water and cook the meal directly in the container. This pack is priced at 9,900 won, also with a 2,000 won discount for October. Additionally, GS25 stores with Go Pizza systems will offer fresh-baked Cheddar Pepperoni Pizza on-site.
