Dicey’s, a new tavern-style pizza restaurant, has opened in West Town at 2109 W. Chicago Avenue, in the former Parson’s Chicken & Fish space. This long-anticipated pizzeria was initially set to launch earlier this year.
Dicey’s offers a unique take on pizza, featuring thin-crust tavern-style pies with a cracker-like texture cut into squares. This style originated in South Side taverns in the 1930s. In addition to pizza, guests can enjoy slushy cocktails, natural wines, local beers, and food options like wings and salads.
“Our goal at Dicey’s is to be more than just a neighborhood bar; we want to create a welcoming space for the community to gather and relax,” said a representative in a press release. “Our menu features delicious tavern-style pizza and a wide variety of dishes to satisfy all tastes.”
The new restaurant is part of the hospitality group Land and Sea Dept., which also owns Parson’s. The original Dicey’s location opened in Nashville in 2022.
Dicey’s Chicago menu offers a variety of classic and specialty pizzas. Classic options include the “regular” cheese pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan, as well as the veggie supreme topped with tomato sauce, roasted peppers, onions, mushrooms, black olives, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
Specialty pizzas include the Calabrian vodka, featuring vodka sauce, provolone, Calabrian chili, roasted red pepper, Parmesan, and fresh basil; the Peppy Boy with old world pepperoni, hot honey, mozzarella, oregano, tomato sauce, and Calabrian chili oil; and the cacio e pepe made with fresh mozzarella, Parmesan cream, pecorino Romano, and cracked black pepper.
Diners can also customize their own pizzas with various unique ingredients.
With Chicago’s love for pizza, Dicey’s is sure to be a welcome addition to the city’s vibrant dining scene.
