Pizza Pilgrims is set to open a new pizzeria on King’s Road, bringing a taste of coastal Italy to Chelsea. The grand opening is scheduled for November 18. This new location spans 2,200 square feet and aims to transport guests to 1950s Capri, where the spirit of La Dolce Vita thrives.
The design of Pizza Pilgrims Chelsea reflects a beach bar reminiscent of the sunny island of Capri. The ground floor can accommodate 40 guests and features ornate tiles and striped parasols. A standout feature is the playful “Chelsea Flour Show” arch made entirely from pizza flour bags. The ceiling is inspired by Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, featuring a whimsical depiction of God and Adam sharing a pizza.
Guests can explore the basement dining area, which seats 32 and features an Amalfi lemon grove under a pergola. This setting allows patrons to sip spritz while enjoying the soothing sound of the sea. The lemon grove will also transform into “Cinema Paradiso,” London’s first lemon grove cinema. Here, guests can relax in deck chairs, enjoy slices of pizza, and watch films in a unique atmosphere. The private cinema will be perfect for private dining and special events, with a calendar of ticketed screenings to be announced for subscribers to the Pizza Pilgrims Chelsea newsletter.
Founders Thom and James Elliot expressed their excitement about the new opening. “Bringing Pizza Pilgrims to Chelsea feels like a real milestone for us. Our dad ran a pub on King’s Road back in the day, and the area has always pulled us in. We have now secured the perfect corner site for our Capri-style pizzeria, and we can’t wait to be part of this community,” they said.
The Chelsea menu will feature Pizza Pilgrims’ signature Neapolitan-style pizza, made from a 72-hour double-fermented dough that creates a soft, pillowy base. Guests can expect classic options like Margherita, Fiorentina, and Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey, alongside unique specialties such as an 8-cheese pizza and a Carbonara topped with crunchy strands of al dente spaghetti. A curated selection of spritzes will complement the meals, enhancing the Capri experience.
On November 11, keep an eye out for the Pizza Pilgrims founders riding their iconic 10-year anniversary Vespa. They will visit local businesses, surprising residents with free pizza and hosting impromptu masterclasses to engage with the King’s Road community.
Pizza Pilgrims Chelsea will officially open at 219 King’s Road, SW3 5EJ, on November 18.
