Rosemary’s Pizza, a beloved local establishment, celebrated its new ownership with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday morning.
Mel Soster, the new owner, expressed his commitment to community involvement. “This establishment has been here for the last 40 years, and I want to get more involved in the community,” he said.
The ownership transition took place after the previous owner stepped down, according to Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Andrew Raymond. To mark the occasion, chamber representatives joined Soster’s family and friends at the ceremony.
Soster, who has spent the last four years at Geneva-on-the-Lake, previously ran Mel’s Diner and managed food services at the COVE. He shared that while Rosemary’s Pizza will maintain its original recipes, the menu will soon feature authentic Spanish cuisine as well.
Originally from the Cleveland area, Soster noted his appreciation for working in Geneva-on-the-Lake and his eagerness to contribute to the local business community.
The previous owner, Richard Phinney, had reached out to Soster about taking over the restaurant. Soster accepted, aiming to uphold the business’s standards and expand its offerings. Phinney will continue to collaborate with Soster on the pizza and wings side of the operation.
Raymond praised Soster’s involvement, highlighting the benefit of having a local dining option available year-round.
Rosemary’s Pizza is open Wednesday through Monday, from 11 a.m. to midnight.
