Jeremy and Sarah Chapman, owners of Industrial Taphouse, are expanding their presence in Ashland. The couple plans to open Steampunk Pizza at 10396 Leadbetter Road, a new pizzeria located between their existing restaurant and their Eat Kitchen and Catering headquarters.
The 1,300-square-foot space became available last year after the closure of Hanover Pie Co. Despite the previous pizzeria’s closure, the Chapmans believe there is demand for a higher-end pizza option in the area.
“There aren’t many pizzerias in Ashland, let alone ones with a focus on quality,” Jeremy said. “This gives us a chance to expand and offer something different from our typical bar food at Taphouse.”
Although Steampunk Pizza will share some kitchen space with Industrial Taphouse, it will operate as a separate business. The restaurant’s menu is still being finalized, but Jeremy mentioned they are considering offering various pizza styles and unique toppings, while keeping the offerings straightforward. “We may also explore options like subs or a different style, such as Detroit-style pizza,” he said.
Steampunk will offer takeout, delivery, and dine-in services, with seating for approximately 25. The Chapmans aim to open the pizzeria in January 2025.
The couple’s recent expansion efforts also include opening a second Industrial Taphouse in Goochland earlier this year and launching Industrial Taphouse Express at the Henrico Sports & Events Center. This latest venture offers restaurant-quality food to visitors at the sportsplex.
“We’re looking to grow our portfolio strategically, finding where our unique style fits,” Jeremy explained.
In addition to Steampunk Pizza, another new restaurant, Ash & Olive, a Mediterranean eatery, is preparing to open in Ashland’s downtown district.
